Official Statement of administration SU "Railway of Moldova": The State Enterprise "The Railway of Moldova" (CFM) administration on the threshold of the ordinary consultations with the European Commission experts on railway transport problematics, which are organised by the Office of the EU Special Representative for Moldova, considers it is necessary to announce the CFM’s initiatives of reopening diesel-multiple unit train circulation on the route Chisinau – Odessa – Chisinau at the solving the problems of technological character expounded by the Moldovan party during the previous meeting held on 23 April 2008 in Odessa.
In order to reopen the circulation of diesel-multiple unit trains of the CFM’s formation in the direction Chisinau – Odessa providing the safety and security of train operation, the integrity of rolling stock, as well as the safety of life and health for passengers, the following problems should be solved in one month’s period from the transdniestrian side:
1. To ensure free access of the CFM’s specialists to control the state of all railway infrastructure installations in the transdniestrian region, as well as permanent activities in place of the CFM’s specialists who deal with the train operation organisation directly (station-master assistant, railway inspector, etc.).
2. To organise activities of the CFM’s booking-offices at the stations to sale tickets by using Moldovan lei as the means of payment.
3. To present persuasive international guarantees and the tools of control for the CFM’s movable property in the transdniestrian region.
4. To return the CFM’s rolling stock detained motiveless in the transdniestrian region, including the four-car unit of one diesel-multiple unit train, which has been staying since March 2006 in the Bender locomotive depot, 13 diesel locomotives, 297 goods wagons.
5. To ensure the convoy by the Republic of Moldova’s transport police and the control by the CFM’s control and inspection staff for passenger trains of the CFM’s formation on their traffic through the transdniestrian region.
We consider that the implementation of the above initiatives can serve as the basis for resuming the traffic of full volume on the railway line Kuchurgan (Ukraine) – Bender (Moldova).
