Czech Railways, joint stock company was established on 1 January 2003 as one of the successive companies following Czech Railways, state organization. It was established pursuant to Act No. 77/2002 Coll. Czech Railways, joint stock company belongs to the largest companies in the Czech Republic and continues a more than 160 years tradition of railway transport on the territory of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. It is a significant company in an international railway transport and a member of important European and world institutions, e.g. the International Railway Union, Community of European Railways and the Organization for Railways Cooperation (Asia and Europe).
Czech Railways, joint stock company offers transport and other services on the railway based on an order and contractual relations, ensures operation on national as well as regional lines and carries out the infrastructure maintenance, repairs and modernization.
In freight as well as passenger transport we compete for orders not only on a liberalized railway market, but also on the whole transport market including other modes of transport too.
